Washington (Kavian Press)- In response to Taliban’s attack in southern province of Helmand, General Scott Miller has harshly criticized the Taliban attack and called it an attack against the US- Taliban peace agreement.
General Miller asked the Taliban to reduce violence and warned that ongoing violence will have a vast negative impact on peace negotiation in Qatar which is almost stalled for now due to the differences between the two sides.
An American forces spokesman confirmed supporting the Afghan security forces with air strike in Helmand but did not provide further details.
According to the Afghan ministry of interior spokesman Tariq Arian, 80 Taliban fighters are dead and 100 more wounded so far.
“Taliban are not able to resist against the Afghan security forces and after a few hours they retreaded to surrounding towns.” He further added.
According to the local sources, Taliban attack in Helmand has forced people to leave the area and many people have been displaced.
Local health officials have reported 70 people have been brought to the hospital including women and children.
