Washington (Kavian Press) -A man has been arrested in northern India after cutting his wife stomach with a sickle to find out about the gender of his baby, leaving his wife critically wounded and causing the death of their baby boy, according to police and relatives.

According to the brother of the woman, the couple has five daughters and he attacked her because he wanted to know the baby’s gender.
“He attacked her with a sickle and ripped her stomach saying that he wanted to check the gender of the unborn child,” the woman’s brother, Golu Singh, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
