Washington (Kavian Press) – Afghan air force conducted an air raid in response to Taliban attack in Takhar province yesterday killing 40 members of the Afghan security forces.
The raid which was conducted late Wednesday and hit a religious school and mosque killed at least 12 and wounded 14. Local officials and local residents blamed the attack for targeting civilian and killing children and women in the mosque.
Hadi Jamal, a spokesperson for an Afghan military unit, confirmed the raid on Wednesday evening but said it was “not clear if the attack had accidentally killed civilians and children” and that an investigation had been launched. He did not elaborate on what kind of air attack had been carried out.
The mosque was attacked after the Afghan security forces received information that Taliban fighters who were involved in the bloody attack on security forces were hiding there.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, confirmed the armed group was engaged in fighting government forces in Takhar.
