Football star Lionel Messi has informed Barcelona that he wants to leave the team before the end date of his contract with the club.
Messi who is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time started his professional football career with Barcelona in 2004 and since then has helped the club win 10 league titles as well as four Champions League titles.
In 2017 Barcelona extended Messi’s contract until June 30, 2021reportedly offering him €565,000 ($645,000) a week. Not many teams could afford that kind of salary if Messi wants to leave the club for real. The two possible destination for Messi as of now would be Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.
The news of Messi leaving the club doing the round after the club’s embarrassing 8-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals. Barcelona did not do well this season and for the first time since 2007 the team did not win any title.
