Washington (Kavian Press) – President Donald Trump accepted the formal nomination of the Republican Party for the second term on the first day of the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Charlotte, North Carolina
The first day of the convention was held in person with Just 336 delegates and the President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence as attendees, nominating Trump as the party’s official nominee to take on Democrat’s nominee Joe Biden on this year’s November 3th election.
Unprecedented for any President to talk on the first day of the convention, minutes later after the official nomination, Trump made a surprise appearance, walking to the stage chanting “ four more years, four more years”.
Throughout his speech Trump accused the Democrats of using the situation with the Covid-19 and the economy in the country to steal the election. President Trump’s opponents have continuously rejected the president’s claims and called them baseless.
The president emphasized on the importance of voting in the November’s election calling it the “most important election in our history”
On his wide-range speech, Trump mainly focused on energizing his base as usual by mainly spreading fears and accused Democrats of hijacking the election.
Shortly, before Trump, Mike Pence the Vice President briefly spoke stating “I think we all know the economy is on the ballot, law and order is on the ballot. Our most cherished ideals of freedom and free markets are on the ballot.”
“We’re gonna make America great again, again,” he added.
The five days of Republican National Convention will switch to virtual tonight and will continue for the next five days with speakers from Trump’s family, many other Republicans and other conservative individuals.
