Washington (Kavian Press)- Taliban attacked a military base in eastern Afghanistan killing three and injuring five public protection forces on Tuesday morning according to local officials in eastern Paktia province of Afghanistan.
Halim Fedaye Paktiya governor said, “The attack was lunched 5:20 am local time targeting the entrance gate of the public protection forces headquarters.”
Paktia province security chief also said the attack was carried out by three suicide bombers.
“A suicide car bomber targeted the entrance gate of the base while the other two gunmen entered the first of floor of the building and soon after killed in fire exchange with the Afghan security forces”. He added.
The attack has caused damage to the public protection forces headquarters and the surrounding buildings according to the officials.
The Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid said, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and further added the attack has caused great casualties to the Afghan forces.
The attack comes just hours after President Ashraf Ghani has released 90 more dangerous Taliban prisoners of the remaining of the 400 Taliban prisoners last night according to some reports.
