Washington (Kavian Press) – Almost all of the 400 dangerous Taliban prisoners are released as of Wednesday evening, except seven very dangerous ones, a reliable source in the Afghan government told Kavian Press.
In return, Taliban released four Afghan commandos but still have two other commandos in their custody. The source did not specify the condition set by the Taliban for the release of the last two commandos.
“Seven dangerous Taliban prisoners are still in custody of the Afghan government due to concerns from foreign countries.” The source added.
Amrullah Saleh the Afghan Vice President earlier said these prisoners in the black lists of the three countries that are supporting Afghanistan and they are the allies of the Afghan people. He further added, that the citizens of these countries do not agree with the release of these prisoners and Afghanistan may risk to lose their supports, if agree to release these prisoners.
France and Australia had previously warned Afghan government not release the Taliban prisoners suspected of killing their citizens in Afghanistan.
With the completion of the prisoners’ release, both sides are expected to move forward with the intra-Afghan negotiations delayed for various reasons so far.
The Taliban have not commented on the release of the prisoners and the starts of negations but the Afghan government insisted the first step to move forward with the negotiation is the end of violence and complete ceasefire.
